This sample really shows how hand-finishing can bring out the depth in red oak — the darkening process makes the grain pop beautifully. It’s the perfect size to test the stain color before committing to a full project.

The color depth from the successive hand-staining is really impressive for a sample piece. I can already tell this will match the darker vibe I'm going for in my living room.

The grain on this sample is gorgeous, and the hand-applied Danish oil gives it a smooth, natural feel. The dark stain is even and rich, exactly what I needed to confirm my choice for the bookshelf project.
