A hand-carved figure by T. Schottman, dated 1970 — a sculptural piece with the warmth and individuality of direct carving.  Signed "T. Schottman '70" in permanent marker. Unverified but likely a late work by Thomas A. Schottman (1924–2017): A well-known New York educator, author, and ceramic sculptor.

Owen Q. ★★★★★

The signature on the bottom is clean and clear, which I always appreciate in vintage pieces. The wood grain has a rich, warm patina that photos don't fully capture. It's got real character and feels substantial in hand.

Henry ★★★★★

The direct carving gives it such a distinct, organic feel that you just don't get from mass-produced pieces. I love the way the grain follows the form, and the '70 date adds a nice bit of history. It's a genuine conversation starter on my shelf.

Joseph ★★★★★

The signed date on the back makes it feel like a genuine time capsule from 1970, and the hand-carved texture catches the light differently with every turn. It's got a quiet, solid presence on my shelf that a mass-produced piece just wouldn't have.
