1940s Danish Elmwood Sofa Bench

The solid elm frame has a sculpted feel that’s even more graceful in person, and the wood’s natural warmth makes it a perfect fit for my living room. I’ve been using it as extra seating by the window, and it’s both sturdy and comfortable.

I was a little worried about the color from the photos, but the elmwood grain is actually richer and warmer in person. The spindle back is sturdy enough that I don’t worry about guests leaning back. It fits perfectly in our narrow hallway.

The spindle back is really what sold me—it adds such nice character. The refreshed elm has a warm, natural look that fits perfectly in my living room, though I wish it came with cushions for the seat.
