Finally got around to mounting this, and the solid maple dowel feels really nice in the hand each time I grab a new roll. The single-piece brass construction gives it a satisfying weight that cheap plastic holders just don't have.

Installed this yesterday and the brass base feels really solid, not flimsy like my old one. The single-piece construction makes it look clean and it holds a roll without wobbling at all.

The solid maple dowel slides out so smoothly when I need a new roll—such a simple but satisfying detail. It feels sturdy and well-balanced, like it'll hold up for years without any wobble. Exactly what I was hoping for in a basic, well-made holder.
