Hand Built Ceramic Ridge Vessel in Coal

The dark, Coal glaze has such a rich depth that it almost looks like it’s absorbing light, and the hand-thrown feel makes it a real presence on the table. I filled it with tall eucalyptus branches, and the wide mouth held them perfectly without tipping over. A beautiful, functional piece that stands

I was a bit worried the wide mouth wouldn't hold branches securely, but the weight of the ceramic balances everything perfectly. It makes even a simple bundle of tall greenery look intentional and sculptural.

The wide mouth on this thing swallows a whole armful of branches without looking crowded, which is exactly what I needed for the mantel. It's heavier than I expected too, so it doesn't tip when the cat brushes past.
